Starting in the month of August, we hosted a series of Panel Discussions aimed at addressing the challenges that Womxn artists face within the visual arts ecosystem. Each talk had a different topic and aim, hosted by Olwethu de Vos (artist & curator) and Palesa Suthane (curator & content generator). There were 4 panel discussions hosted over Zoom.

This panel discussion dealt with womxn artist’s experiences around White privilege and barriers to entry with in the visual arts eco-system. This panel discussion delved into womxn’s notions around formal education in relation to men’s seeming ability to enter the market without formal education. Entitled “We are all educated”, the discussion was hosted by Palesa Suthane (Curator & Content Generator) and Olwethu de Vos (Artist & Curator). The speakers were Keneilwe Mokoena (artist & curator), Percy Maimela (artist), Greatjoy Ndlovu (artist), Bev Bo (artist).

This panel discussion sought to explore the artist career journey through a discussion about self-representation or gallery representation. Artists and Gallerists discussed the potential benefits and pitfalls for artists. The discussion was hosted by Palesa Suthane (Curator & Content Generator) and Olwethu de Vos (Artist & Curator).
